Commercial CCTV
Theft, damage, and defending against health and safety claims. Coverage planned around where things actually go missing rather than where a camera is easy to mount.

The part most installers don't mention
A camera makes you responsible for what it sees.
If you run CCTV in a business, data protection law applies to you: signage, how long footage is kept, and what you do when someone asks for a copy of themselves. If your home camera sees past your boundary — the pavement, next door's garden — it applies to you too.
None of that is a reason to skip CCTV. It's a reason to have it installed by people who deal with this every day. We position cameras to cover what's actually yours, set retention sensibly, and tell you what you need to display. The ICO publishes its own guidance, and we'd rather you knew about it from us than from a complaint.
CCTV questions
What happens at the free survey?
We come and look. Where the vulnerable points are, what the light is like at night, where cabling can realistically run, and what your broadband will carry. Then you get a specification and a price. There's no charge and no obligation.
Do I need to tell anyone I have CCTV?
If you're a business, yes — you need signs telling people they're being recorded, and you have obligations about how long you keep footage and what you do when someone asks for a copy of themselves. We set the system up to meet those from day one and show you what you need to display. The ICO publishes guidance on it, and we'd rather you were across it than surprised by it.
What if my camera can see my neighbour's garden or the pavement?
Then data protection law applies to you too, even at home. It's not a reason not to have CCTV — it's a reason to have it positioned properly. We'll plan the angles so you cover what's yours, and tell you plainly where a camera would cause you a problem.
Does it record sound?
It can, but we'd usually advise against it. Audio recording is much harder to justify than video and is the part most likely to cause you difficulty. If you have a genuine reason for it, we'll talk it through.
Will it work with my internet?
Cameras use upload bandwidth, which is the half of a broadband connection nobody checks. We measure it at the survey. If it won't carry the system you want, we'll say so before you buy it — and we also do business connectivity, so it's a solvable problem.
Can you take over a system someone else installed?
Often, yes. Bring us the details and we'll tell you whether it's worth keeping or whether you'd be spending good money after bad. Call 01604 931 212.
